Blog 10-Year Challenge (2013-2023) – Song No.128

On this date ten years ago (27 May 2013),six songs from six different movies were covered in the blog. Here are the details:-

We observe that three movies (out of six) whose songs were covered on this date ten years ago have since been YIPPEED in the blog. That leaves us with three unYIPPEED movies that re eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (27 May 2023).

“Mastaani”(1955) is one of the BTYC eligible movies today.

“Mastaani”(1955) was produced and directed by Dhirubhai Desai for Sharad Productions, Bombay. The movie had Nigar(Sultan), Manhar(Desai), Shahu Modak, Rathnamala, Niranjan Sharma, Agha, Suryakant,Seeta Bose, Santhosh Kumar, N.Bhushan, Dilip, Roop Kumar, Mishrilal, B.N.Bali etc in it. In addition there were guest appearances by Kamal Indira Bansal, Jankidass, Yashodhara and Bhagwan.

“Mastaani”(1955) had 12 songs in it. Four songs have been covered so far.

Here is the fifth song from the movie to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and female chorus. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist. Music is composed by B N Bali.

Only audio of the song is available. The song sounds like a “Tonga” song where a lady and her sahelis are riding a tonga, which is running a bit too fast for the lady who requests the gaadee waala to reduce the speed a bit. The song does not record the response of the tonga driver. It is the response of the sahelis only that is recorded in the song.

I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the song.
