It is believed that one needs to train hard and later work hard to become anything in life. But in India, people try to avoid hard work and want to succeed overnight. People trying to use “approach” to please higher ups-be they top officials or gods, instead of working to qualify for the job, is common.
In real life, one has to slog hard to get even a small job. There is mind boggling competition for lowly jobs of even a peon or a clerk.
On the other hand, there are people who dream of somehow getting the top job without first qualifying for the entry level job.
There is one site on internet called “quora” where people ask questions. There one can commonly find peoople seriously asking a question like- “How can someone achieve higher posts than GM in the beginning of career ?”
Hindi movies play their own part in making people believe that one can top in any field without needing to work for it. No matter what is the field of activity of a character in Hindi movies, all he has to do is sing songs and he will have his way. While in foreign movies, the hero would be shown practicing martial arts for several years before being able to take on the baddies, Indian hero, without any practice would be able to singlehandedly bash up dozens of baddies. He may have never held a gun in his life, but he would shoot perfect shots with a gun right from the beginning. He may have never trained to be a sprinter, but he would outrun a moving train. Too bad that real life does not happen like this.
None of Indian sprinters are good enough to win medals even at Asian level, forget world level, and our shooters need to train for years and even they cannot shoot the way our untrained heroes shoot in movies.
Still there are lots of people in India who want to achieve great things by just chaddaaoing “sawa rupye ka prasad” to the Almighty.
One old time fantasy of people, especially during past years was to belive that all they needed to become a hero was to just land up in Bombay. The big banner producers, they thought, were eagerly looking forward to their arrival. The fact that like in any field, one needs to work his way up and gain experience is something these people refuse to consider.
